Court Marriage in Islamabad

A valid, registered nikah arranged by experienced family lawyers, handled with discretion and respect for your rights.

What It Means

Court marriage, explained

A court marriage is simply a nikah that is performed and registered with the help of a lawyer, most often when an adult couple wishes to marry of their own free will. In Pakistan an adult man and woman have the legal right to marry without anyone else's permission, and once the nikah is solemnised and registered the marriage is fully valid.

Our role is to make sure every step is done correctly, so your marriage stands on firm legal ground and your certificate is recognised at home and, if you need it, abroad.

Handled with discretion

We understand that these matters are personal and sometimes sensitive. Your consultation is private, the process is respectful, and where needed we advise on protective steps such as a free will affidavit.

Legal requirements

  • Both parties are adults of sound mind (18 years in the Islamabad Capital Territory) marrying of their own free will.
  • Free and genuine consent from the bride and groom, without any coercion.
  • Two adult witnesses to the nikah, as required for a valid marriage.
  • Valid CNICs for both parties (and for the witnesses).
  • If either party was married before, proof that the earlier marriage has legally ended.

Documents you will need

  • Original CNIC and copies for the bride and the groom.
  • CNIC copies of the two witnesses.
  • Recent passport size photographs of both parties.
  • Divorce certificate, dissolution decree or death certificate, if a previous marriage applies.
  • A free will affidavit, which we prepare where the circumstances call for it.

What to expect

In most cases the nikah can be completed in a single day once your documents and witnesses are ready, with the computerised marriage certificate following within a few working days. Professional fees depend on the circumstances of your matter, so we give you a clear quote before any work begins.

Planning to use your marriage certificate overseas? We can arrange registration and attestation so it is accepted by foreign authorities and missions. See our family and succession law practice for the wider picture.
